The Need For A Team
In an area such as Congo the needs greatly outnumber the resources that any one person or agency can provide. For this reason it becomes crucial for agencies to work together. By working together in this way we are able to share resources, skills and experience. This improves conditions for workers and allows more benefit for those who receive their service.
Below is a list of agencies currently partnered with PROLASA. We certainly appreciate their contributions and look forward to continuing our work together in the future.
International Children’s Care (ICC) is a worldwide collection of individuals who have a passion for creating families for orphaned or abandoned children.
In 1976, a tragic earthquake left countless children in Guatemala City orphaned. ICC founders, Ken & Alcyon Fleck, determined to restore the love of a family to these children struck by utter devastation. Since that time, thousands of children from around the world have been embraced into their family.
PROLASA contacted ICC to ask for their assistance in caring for nearly two hundred children already under its care. With medical work as well as community education and development projects PROLASA’s resources were already spread very thin and there was no way that PROLASA was going to be able to provide quality care for the children alone.
In 2001 ICC administration was able to meet with PROLASA administration to make plans for the future. Security problems in Congo did not allow for a site visit at that time but ICC was able to visit Congo in 2002. Impressed with what they saw and with hearts touched by the orphan children, a partnership was formed which has continued to expand and develop since its inception.
