Donations are Down

Jumbo (hello)

Christmas and New Year’s is quickly approaching; however, donations are presently down and this time of year is truly a difficult time to add a bonus under the tree or help celebrate a new and upcoming year.

Patmos childrens village

The PATMOS children’s village (pictured above) celebrate New Year’s with zest.  It is celebrated much the same as Christmas is here in North America.  The children enjoy creating hats, singing, dancing, having a special meal and being with the family they have grown to love.

If you have a minute and some resources please take some time to donate where it counts.  Allow children to feel love and enjoyment over the holidays.

Cow-tastic addition to the PATMOS orphanage

None

Getting and finding nutritional foods is important for everyone!  Finding and maintaining enough for an entire orphanage can be an obstacle!  We have been fortunate enough to get four new cows at the orphanage.  These cows will provide not only necessary dairy products for the little ones but also help with material for the bio-gas project!

Creating Hay

None

The food, or fodder cattle are fed are not exactly what we would call conventional, at least not here in North America.  The grass that cattle are fed at the orphanage is grown on site; it is harvested with a scythe. Once it is harvested, then a worker (picture shown) feeds the machine in small bunches.   The wheel is turned and it produces grass for the cattle to consume in a more manageable bite size.  This wonderful machine is very labor intensive; however,  the nutritional rewards are a delicious addition to the orphanes menu.
